EHS Manager - Prevention Advisor

About the role

Labcorp is seeking an EHS Manager to join its new CMC facility in Mechelen, Belgium. The role combines the duties of a site Internal Prevention Advisor and Biological Safety Coordinator, leading environmental, health, safety and biosafety programs across laboratory and kit production facilities. It is described as a key opportunity to shape a strong safety culture and support the launch of a new laboratory facility.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the site's Internal Prevention Advisor and trusted EHS subject matter expert.
• Lead and continuously improve EHS management systems, compliance programs and site safety culture.
• Serve as Biological Safety Coordinator, overseeing contained-use activities, biosafety risk assessments, training and regulatory submissions.
• Manage laboratory, production and contractor safety programs, including risk assessments, emergency preparedness, chemical safety and incident investigations.
• Ensure compliance with Belgian EHS, environmental and biosafety regulations, permits and corporate standards.
• Partner with leadership teams to drive performance, deliver training and achieve EHS objectives.
• Lead audits, inspections, regulatory visits and corrective action programmes.

Required profile

• Prevention Advisor Level 2 certification in Belgium.
• 6+ years of experience managing EHS programs in a regulated environment.
• 4+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, lab, chemical or life science environments.
• Bachelor's degree in a science or technical field.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Experience performing risk assessments and implementing preventive measures.
• Ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred qualifications

• Prevention Advisor level 1 qualification.
• 6+ years of professional EHS work experience.
• 3+ years leading EHS processes and systems.
• Professional memberships or certifications, e.g. EBSA.
• 1+ year of biological safety experience (risk assessment, CL2/CL3 containment, GMO dossiers, incident management) and working knowledge of Belgian contained-use requirements.

Required skills

• Dutch and English, with excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of the Belgian Well-being at Work Code (Codex) and internal service (IDPBW/ISPPW) practices.
• Strong document management skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to plan, prioritise and complete multiple projects under tight deadlines, and to work independently or in a team.
