Educational Support Assistant / Nursery Assistant (Part‑time)

About the role

The European School Brussels I (Uccle and Berkendael sites) is looking for a part‑time Educational Support Assistant and/or Nursery Assistant. The role supports pupils with special educational needs and ensures their health, safety and inclusion throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct physical care such as assistance with mobility, toileting, feeding and medical procedures.
• Monitor pupils' health and well‑being, maintain accurate care records and manage any health‑related incidents.
• Deliver personalised educational support in class, small groups or one‑to‑one, using differentiated teaching methods and assistive technologies.
• Assist in preparing and implementing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and promote positive peer interactions.
• Collaborate with teachers, healthcare professionals and parents to develop and adjust care and learning plans.

Required profile

• Experience or training in supporting children with special educational needs or in a nursery setting.
• Ability to work flexibly according to the number of pupils and school needs.
• Strong communication skills for teamwork with educators, health staff and families.

Required skills

• Knowledge of basic first‑aid and health‑care procedures for children.
• Familiarity with assistive technologies and educational support tools.
