About the role
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is looking for an intern to join its Donor and External Relations sub‑section at the Representation Office to the European Union in Brussels. The role supports OHCHR’s mission to protect human rights worldwide by assisting with donor intelligence, resource mobilisation and project portfolio management.
Key responsibilities
- Gather and analyse information on EU external action priorities, funding opportunities and policy developments relevant to human rights.
- Prepare research reports, briefing notes and written documents on donor intelligence topics, including fundraising possibilities linked to climate change and the environment.
- Support the preparation of high‑quality project proposals and coordinate with thematic units at OHCHR headquarters and field locations.
- Assist OHCHR staff worldwide in monitoring and reporting on EU‑funded projects, ensuring timely information flow.
- Maintain relationships with key counterparts in European institutions such as the European Commission, Council of the EU and European Parliament.
Required profile
- Motivation to contribute to the protection and promotion of human rights.
- Strong research and analytical abilities.
- Excellent written communication skills for drafting reports and briefing notes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff in Geneva, field offices and European institutions.
