Director, Facilities Design & Utilities

About the role

The Director, Facilities Design & Utilities leads the strategic planning, design and execution of facility infrastructure for a global Pharma Services organization. This senior engineering leader ensures that architectural, electrical, water and HVAC systems meet regulatory, operational and business requirements while driving standardisation and innovation across sites.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the global strategy for facility design and utility systems.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality and EHS to align infrastructure with growth and regulatory expectations.
• Oversee end‑to‑end facility design, space optimisation and GMP compliance.
• Own engineering standards for electrical distribution, water systems (WFI, purified water, wastewater) and HVAC, establishing reliability and energy‑efficiency targets.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives, leveraging digital tools and data analytics to reduce downtime and lifecycle costs.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP, safety and environmental regulations and manage audit observations.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing global team of engineers and manage external partners.

Required profile

• Senior engineering leader with extensive experience in pharmaceutical facility design.
• Proven track record of delivering GMP‑compliant architectural, electrical, water and HVAC projects.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross‑functional senior leadership.
• Experience in global standardisation, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to lead large, multi‑disciplinary teams and external consultants.

Required skills

• Electrical distribution and backup system design.

• HVAC system design, including cleanroom and environmental controls.
