Deputy Medical Director

About the role

The Deputy Medical Director supports the Medical Director in leading MSF Belgium’s medical department. Based in Brussels, this senior role combines strategic oversight of medical policies with operational coordination across projects and countries.

Key responsibilities

• Define the medical vision and set priorities for the department and operations.
• Develop, adapt, and oversee medical policies, guidelines, standards and tools.
• Ensure quality of care while fostering innovation and efficiency.
• Align medical decisions with operational leadership and manage key medico‑operational dossiers.
• Oversee medical referents in Brussels and lead selected strategic projects.
• Monitor project implementation and support medical teams at country level.
• Contribute to medical advocacy topics in collaboration with Operations and Analysis.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in medical management and strategic planning.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian medical operations.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with operational teams and senior leadership.
• Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills.
