Deputy Head, Linguistic Services and Digital Transformation Lead

About the role

The NATO Council Secretariat is seeking a senior professional to lead the digital transformation of its Linguistic Services. Reporting to the Head of Linguistic Services, the Deputy Head will drive AI‑enabled language solutions while ensuring continuity of high‑quality translation and interpretation support for NATO leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and oversee the end‑to‑end digital transformation of Linguistic Services.
• Lead change‑management initiatives and advise senior management on emerging language‑technology innovations.
• Supervise the Linguistic Planning and Digital Transformation Office, set performance targets and provide coaching.
• Ensure timely delivery of programmes and projects while balancing operational pressures.

Required profile

• University degree relevant to the position or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 7 years of experience leading change and managing cross‑functional teams in language services, including at least 3 years in a management role.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French (NATO language proficiency VI in one language, V in the other).
• Proven experience developing and integrating AI‑powered translation and interpretation tools.
