Deputy Director of Policy (Brussels)

About the role

Arq Foundation is seeking a Deputy Director of Policy to act as the primary liaison with the Brussels policy ecosystem. You will support the Director of Policy, shape engagement strategies, and ensure that cutting‑edge AI research reaches the right decision‑makers at the right time.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact with EU institutions, parliamentary groups, and other policy stakeholders.
• Gather and analyse political intelligence to inform research dissemination.
• Develop and execute engagement strategies that align research outputs with policy windows.
• Contribute directly to research papers, briefs, and public presentations.
• Represent Arq’s work in public and private forums, building credibility and visibility.
• Maintain intelligence networks, flag risks, identify opportunities, and advise the team on strategic positioning.

Required profile

• Recognised and trusted interlocutor within the Brussels policy community.
• Ability to engage credibly with senior officials across multiple EU institutions.
• Broad fluency across AI‑related policy domains rather than deep expertise in a single area.
• Proactive, collaborative mindset with a track record of influencing policy outcomes.
