Cybersecurity Engineer

About the role

As the first dedicated Cybersecurity Engineer at Joris Ide, you will own security operations, engineering and compliance across our European IT and OT environments. Working closely with the external SOC, internal IT teams and business partners, you will help shape and execute the company’s cybersecurity vision.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of IT Infrastructure in defining and maintaining the cybersecurity strategy aligned with business priorities.
• Act as the primary liaison for the external SOC, handling escalated alerts and incidents.
• Triage, validate and coordinate incident response together with internal IT teams.
• Fine‑tune detection rules, reduce false positives and continuously improve detection quality.
• Manage and optimise security tooling such as Google Chronicle, CrowdStrike, Qualys and Cisco Umbrella.
• Lead vulnerability management and OT cybersecurity initiatives.
• Automate SOC workflows and reporting, and develop dashboards with SLA/KPI metrics.
• Support risk assessments, audits and the roadmap toward ISO 27001 certification.
• Document policies, procedures and post‑incident analyses.
• Lead and participate in tabletop exercises to test incident readiness.
• Stay current with cybersecurity trends and propose continuous improvements.

Required profile

• 4–7 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT security roles.
• Hands‑on experience in an operational IT environment.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, virtualization and cloud.
• Experience with SIEM and EDR/XDR solutions.
• Solid knowledge of incident response, detection and monitoring.
• Analytical mindset with a pragmatic, business‑oriented approach.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Team player who takes ownership and initiative.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes.
• Fluent in Dutch and English; French is a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to different sites.
