Country Corporate Counsel – Benelux & Motion Legal Counsel (Belgium)

About the role

ABB is seeking a Country Corporate Counsel for the Benelux region who will also act as the Motion Legal Counsel for Belgium. The role combines strategic legal guidance with hands‑on corporate governance, supporting both the broader ABB business and the Motion unit.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end fiduciary duties, corporate governance and compliance for Benelux legal entities, including corporate secretarial services and regulatory filings.
• Advise the Benelux Country Holding Officer and senior management on governance, risk mitigation, mergers & acquisitions and licence‑to‑operate requirements.
• Monitor legal affairs, manage litigation matters and provide counsel on strategic fiduciary issues for Motion Belgium.
• Oversee integrity investigations, contracting compliance, data‑privacy, cybersecurity, NIS2 and other regulatory certifications.
• Ensure alignment with internal audit, HSE and risk‑management standards across business areas.
• Support structuring, drafting and negotiation of M&A and divestiture transactions.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in corporate law, compliance and M&A within the Benelux jurisdiction.
• Proven ability to act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on complex legal and regulatory matters.
• Strong understanding of data‑privacy, cybersecurity and NIS2 regulations.
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Dutch or French is a plus.
