Competition Lawyer

About the role

Our client, a leading international consumer‑focused business, is expanding its EU legal team and seeks an experienced Competition Lawyer. You will work in a fast‑moving B2C environment where competition law is central to strategic decisions across European markets.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on EU competition law matters, with a focus on abuse of dominance, horizontal and vertical agreements.
• Support complex behavioural competition issues across multiple European jurisdictions.
• Develop and implement risk‑based competition compliance programmes for a consumer‑facing business.
• Provide guidance on distribution structures, pricing strategies, e‑commerce models and commercial partnerships.
• Collaborate with legal, regulatory, compliance and commercial teams to deliver pragmatic, business‑oriented advice.
• Manage relationships with external counsel and liaise with competition authorities as needed.
• Monitor EU competition law developments and assess their impact on the business.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with 8–12 years of post‑qualification experience in competition law, gained in a leading law firm and/or in‑house.
• Demonstrable experience advising on abuse of dominance matters (essential).
• Strong expertise in EU competition law and familiarity with Belgian competition law frameworks.
• Experience with merger control and competition aspects of M&A transactions.
• Proven ability to design and implement effective compliance programmes and internal training.
• Commercially minded with excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Fluency in English; additional European language is a plus.
