Competition Associate – Brussels

About the role

DLA Piper is seeking a Competition Associate to join its global competition team in Brussels. The role involves advising a diverse client base on complex competition law matters across the EU.

Key responsibilities

• Provide counsel on merger control matters and the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR).
• Advise on multijurisdictional foreign direct investment (FDI) transactions.
• Represent clients before the European Commission and national competition authorities in investigations and market studies.
• Handle State Aid issues and advise on behavioural and commercial competition law.
• Collaborate closely with DLA Piper’s international competition team and act as a trusted business partner.
• Identify and develop business development opportunities.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in an EU jurisdiction.
• 5–8 years of competition law experience, preferably at a leading law firm.
• Multi‑disciplinary exposure to investigations, behavioural, merger control, FDI and FSR work.
• Deep technical understanding of competition law issues.
• Experience advising international clients across jurisdictions.
• Fluent in English and Dutch.
• Proven ability to draft client‑focused documents and maintain professional standards.
