Communications Security Officer (Crypto Specialist)

About the role

The European External Action Service (EEAS) is looking for a Communications Security Officer with a specialization in cryptography to join its Secure Communications division. The position is based at EEAS Headquarters in Brussels and will support the protection and handling of EU classified information across the Service.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and manage Classified Communication and Information Systems (CCIS) and associated cryptographic systems.
• Provide second‑line technical support for CCIS and cryptographic infrastructures.
• Oversee the accountability, storage, and transfer of EU crypto and COMSEC material.
• Ensure that procedures for secure handling, accounting, and distribution of crypto and COMSEC assets are consistently applied.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of security procedures and technical guidelines.

Required profile

• Dynamic, proactive, and highly motivated professional with strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Demonstrated sense of service and ability to work in a multinational environment.

Required skills

• Experience with CCIS (Classified Communication and Information Systems).
• Knowledge of cryptographic systems and secure communications.
• Familiarity with EU crypto and COMSEC material handling.
