Chief Steward

About the role

The Chief Steward leads the daily stewarding operations at Hotel Amigo, ensuring that all kitchen and dining areas are supplied with clean, hygienic equipment and that the team works efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and supervise stewarding activities, allocate tasks and schedule staff.
• Perform administrative duties for the department and ensure compliance with cleanliness, hygiene and food‑safety procedures.
• Maintain continuous availability of clean utensils, tableware, equipment and uniforms for kitchen and dining areas.
• Manage inventory of crockery, cutlery, serving ware, cleaning products, dishwashing equipment and workwear; monitor detergent use, place orders and control departmental budget.
• Conduct regular inventory counts, record breakages and consumption.
• Participate in operational meetings, coordinate with other department managers and contribute to recruitment decisions.
• Report directly to the Head Chef.
