Carbon Black Technology Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Global Technology Manager to lead technical services and application support for carbon black used in inks, paints and coatings. The role is fully remote and involves direct interaction with customers to solve formulation challenges and support product commercialization worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead global technical services for liquid system applications of carbon black.
• Assist customers with formulation and application troubleshooting, addressing dispersion, rheology, gloss, jetness and filterability issues.
• Design and execute DoE trials, product evaluations and scale‑up activities.
• Recommend appropriate carbon black grades based on specific customer applications.
• Develop testing standards, performance benchmarks and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing and Sales teams on product development and commercialization.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and resolve technical complaints.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations, webinars and application notes.
• Manage technical operations, KPIs and team development.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience with carbon black in inks and coatings.
• Strong knowledge of dispersion science, rheology and colour science.
• Proven experience in customer‑facing technical or application roles.
• Fluent in German and English.
