Capital Markets & Advisory Internship Programme

About the role

ING's Capital Markets & Advisory (CMA) division offers a 3-6 month internship for students, with hands-on involvement in live deals and key initiatives. Candidates choose one of four departments and rank them in order of preference: Corporate Finance/M&A, Debt Capital Markets, Loan Sales or Corporate Investments.

Key responsibilities

• Corporate Finance/M&A: help prepare client pitches, draft tailored pitches, carry out industry analysis and review company strategies and financials, assess acquisition opportunities, support clients through data rooms, due diligence and legal documentation, and coordinate equity capital markets transactions.
• Debt Capital Markets: take part in bond refinancing and liability management deals, prepare investor presentations, structure deal terms, guide on bond documentation, pitch bond transactions, and prepare market and pricing updates.
• Loan Sales: assist in primary loan syndications and secondary loan sales, prepare pitches, run liquidity analysis, compile league tables and create market reports, working from Brussels in a cross-border team.
• Corporate Investments: support the origination and investment process and the management of the private equity portfolio, meeting SME decision-makers under the supervision of Investment Directors.

Required profile

• Student currently enrolled in a study, preferably in the final year with an excellent academic record.
• Availability of 3 to 6 months; the internship must take place while still a student.
• Strong interest in at least one of the four areas.
• Dutch is mandatory for the Corporate Finance/M&A team; English is required at a high level.
• Highly numerate, analytical, organized and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Fluent English and Dutch (written and spoken).
• Proficiency in Excel; Python is a plus for Loan Sales.
• Foreign languages are an advantage but not required.
