Calculation Engineer – Advanced Compression Technologies

About the role

The Beyond Air Task Force at Atlas Copco Group develops and maintains advanced compression technologies for gas applications. As a Calculation Engineer you will support product design and optimisation through detailed engineering calculations and simulation models.

Key responsibilities

• Perform thermodynamic, fluid‑dynamic, mechanical, bearing and structural analyses for compressors and related components.
• Develop, maintain and validate analytical and numerical models that predict behaviour under various gases and operating conditions.
• Assess mechanical integrity through stress, strain and fatigue calculations.
• Execute thermodynamic evaluations to determine system efficiency and performance.
• Carry out advanced bearing calculations to ensure reliability of rotating equipment.
• Analyse customer requests for special gas applications and provide expert calculation advice.
• Define boundary cases, calibrate models and align predictions with real‑world performance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Electromechanical, Energy, Mechatronics engineering or equivalent experience.
• Extensive knowledge of thermodynamics and structural analysis.
• Strong programming skills in Matlab.
• Excellent command of English; additional language is a plus.
• Genuine interest in technology, innovation and multidisciplinary teamwork.
