Backend Engineer – Technology Department

About the role

As a Backend Engineer at Gaming1 you will create and evolve the services that power high‑traffic, regulated gaming experiences. You will work in a small, autonomous product team where your decisions directly affect platform stability, compliance and customer trust.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and continuously improve backend solutions that support customer experiences and business capabilities.
• Own the full lifecycle of services—from architecture and implementation to release, monitoring and iterative enhancement.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers and other stakeholders to deliver reliable, compliant features.
• Apply strong backend craftsmanship while keeping product impact, reliability and regulatory requirements in mind.
• Drive improvements in systems, tooling, practices and ways of working.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer in product‑oriented environments, preferably at scale or in regulated contexts.
• Solid understanding of API design, data modeling, testing, performance, resilience and operability.
• Hands‑on experience with .NET (C#) and event‑driven architectures such as RabbitMQ or NServiceBus.
• Strong background with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, and production‑grade systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and services like S3.
• Ability to own solutions end‑to‑end and continuously improve them.
• Product‑mindset, collaborative attitude and comfort working in small, cross‑functional teams.
