Backend Engineer

About the role

Actito is looking for a Backend Engineer to join its Channel Team in Louvain‑la‑Neuve. You will help design, build and scale the communication services that power the company’s multi‑channel marketing platform, working closely with product managers and UX designers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑performance Java APIs using Spring and OpenAPI/REST standards.
• Develop and maintain event‑driven, distributed systems with Kafka, MySQL, MongoDB, Tomcat and Nginx.
• Contribute to containerised deployments on Kubernetes and support CI/CD pipelines.
• Integrate mobile push, SMS, email and in‑app messaging workflows, ensuring deliverability and reliability.
• Leverage AI‑assisted coding tools such as Claude to accelerate development, testing and documentation.

Required profile

• Strong background in Java and Spring with a focus on API development.
• Hands‑on experience building scalable, event‑driven architectures.
• Ability to collaborate directly with product and design teams, balancing technical quality with business impact.
• Proactive problem‑solver who takes ownership of system improvements.
• Fluent in both French and English.
