Backend Engineer

About the role

Actito is looking for a Backend Engineer to join its Channel Team in Louvain-la-Neuve. You will help design, develop, and scale the messaging services that power our multi‑channel engagement platform, working closely with product managers and UX designers in a Scrum environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑performance Java APIs (OpenAPI/REST) for messaging channels.
• Build and maintain event‑driven systems using Kafka, MySQL, MongoDB, Tomcat and Nginx.
• Contribute to containerized deployments on Kubernetes and improve system reliability.
• Integrate mobile push, SMS, email and in‑app messaging workflows.
• Leverage AI‑assisted coding tools such as Claude to accelerate development and automate testing.
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Maven and npm.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Java and Spring framework.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with product and design teams.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Proactive problem‑solver with ownership mindset.
