Advocacy Officer – EU Policy & Stakeholder Engagement

About the role

COTANCE – Euroleather is seeking a motivated Advocacy Officer (or Trainee) to support its policy team on key EU legislative files affecting the European leather industry. Reporting directly to the Secretary General, the role offers hands‑on experience in policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy within a sustainability‑focused sector.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse EU legislative priorities such as the Eco‑Design for Sustainable Products Regulation, Textiles Labelling Regulation, BioTech Act II, Circular Economy Act, and Environmental Footprint Methodology.
• Track developments in EU chemical restriction regulations and produce regular reports.
• Develop and animate advocacy networks and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Conduct research and prepare informational material for the COTANCE website and partners.
• Support working groups by drafting briefs, organising meetings, and updating databases.
• Participate in meetings, create presentations and reports, and manage day‑to‑day correspondence.
• Accompany the Secretary General to international fairs and events.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Political Science, Law, Economics or a related field.
• Excellent command of English.
• Basic knowledge of EU institutions and regulatory processes.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Between 6 months and 1 year of relevant work experience.
