Academic Position in Communication and Cultural Organizations

About the role

UCLouvain is recruiting a full‑time academic to teach and conduct research on communication, culture and cultural organisations, primarily based at the Mons campus.

Key responsibilities

• Teach courses such as Sociology of Culture, Cultural Mediation, Anthropology of Culture and related subjects across the Faculty of Economic, Social and Political Sciences and Communication.
• Supervise Master’s theses and, once tenured, lead PhD supervision and research programmes on cultural practices, organisations and policy.
• Develop research projects, obtain funding, and collaborate with local cultural institutions and research institutes (IACCHOS, ILC).
• Participate in service activities, programme committees, examination boards and potentially develop certificate‑level training programmes.

Required profile

• PhD in Information and Communication Sciences or an equivalent discipline.
• Proven university teaching record with formal evaluations and international‑level publications.
• Experience abroad or extended stay outside the awarding institution.
• Ability to work in French and English (or acquire proficiency within two years).

Required skills

• High‑level scientific research competence, including funding acquisition and team management.
• Qualitative or mixed‑methods expertise (e.g., discourse analysis, organisational ethnography, participatory methods).
• Capacity to integrate research results into teaching and collaborate with cultural actors.

• Tenure after a successful probationary period (typically four years) with public‑sector pension.
