Wind Turbine Electro-Mechanical Engineer - Aeroelasticity

About the role

We are a Belgian engineering consulting firm seeking a full‑time electro‑mechanical engineer specialized in renewable energies to support our Wind & Marine Lab. The role focuses on structural health monitoring, aeroelastic modelling and performance monitoring of wind turbine assets, combining real‑time measurements with advanced analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct structural health monitoring of operating wind turbines using real‑time data and analytics.
• Develop and run aeroelastic models (e.g., OpenFAST) to assess dynamic wind load impacts on turbine components.
• Monitor performance of wind parks, detect anomalies, and interpret results for internal and external stakeholders.
• Install measurement devices on‑site and inspect turbine components during field missions.
• Prepare reports and present findings to clients, research sponsors and senior engineers.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in engineering with a focus on renewable energy.
• Up to three years of experience or recent graduate, highly motivated and able to work independently or in a team.
• Strong command of English; Dutch or French is a plus.
• Good communication and organizational skills for interacting with client organisations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and data‑analytics tools.
• Experience with structural health assessment and SCADA data analysis.
• Knowledge of aeroelastic computations, preferably using OpenFAST.
• Familiarity with measurement campaigns, vibration analysis and mechanical design criteria for turbine components.
