VP Finance – European Biotech

About the role

We are a privately held biotech/life‑sciences company operating in the US, Germany and Belgium. We seek an experienced finance leader to serve as VP Finance, overseeing financial operations, FP&A and accounting across our three‑entity structure. Reporting to the Managing Director, the VP will interact with the Board and drive both strategic financial planning and statutory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a small internal finance team, including an Associate Director FP&A and a Senior Accounting Manager.
• Manage internal consultants (AP, US Finance/Accounting) and external bookkeeping firms in Belgium and Germany.
• Own monthly, quarterly and annual close processes for all three entities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements in NetSuite, applying US GAAP and local statutory standards, and handle intercompany eliminations.
• Maintain intercompany agreements, cost‑sharing arrangements and transfer‑pricing documentation.
• Administer NetSuite ERP, including chart of accounts, workflows and reporting structures.
• Oversee European R&D tax incentive programs, such as Belgian innovation income deduction and German Forschungszulage, coordinating with local tax advisors.

Required profile

• Senior finance professional with proven leadership experience in a multi‑entity, multi‑country environment.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, European statutory accounting standards and transfer‑pricing principles.
• Hands‑on experience managing external accounting firms and internal finance teams.
• Ability to communicate financial strategy to senior leadership and board members.
