Traction Software Development Engineer

About the role

As a Traction Software Development Engineer at Alstom, you will develop and test embedded software for traction converters, ensuring compliance with railway safety standards while delivering high‑performance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop application software for traction and auxiliary converters using Matlab, Simulink and ControlBuild.
• Translate functional requirements into detailed software specifications and manage configuration and change control.
• Participate in design reviews, produce quality documentation, and support bench testing and on‑site validation.
• Collaborate with traction control engineers, subcontractors and international teams to align specifications and report progress.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering (Software, Electronics, Control Systems or related).
• Minimum 2 years of real‑time embedded software development experience.
• Strong analytical skills, autonomy and team‑oriented mindset.
• Good English communication skills and willingness to travel up to 40%.
