Tax Compliance Lead – VAT

About the role

As a Tax Compliance Lead for VAT, you will own the end‑to‑end VAT compliance process, from preparation to filing, for complex cases. You will review work produced by others, coordinate activities across functions, and continuously seek process improvements while leading a team of tax compliance analysts.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the overall VAT compliance process, ensuring timely planning and execution.
• Review VAT preparations, submissions, reconciliations and VAT accounting.
• Prepare and file VAT returns, ECSL, client listings, 8th Directive refunds and other formalities within deadlines.
• Lead tax coding and monitor VAT setup in the ERP system, performing quality checks.
• Support VAT‑related organisational changes such as new registrations and cancellations.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders to resolve VAT issues and queries.
• Assist with VAT audits conducted by local tax authorities.
• Define and implement VAT automation solutions, including e‑invoicing, SAF‑T file requirements and VAT tools in SAP or external software.
• Prepare reports, error lists and drive continuous process improvement.
• Coach, support and develop the team of tax compliance analysts.

Required profile

• Proven experience in VAT compliance and tax reporting for complex business structures.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to review and improve existing processes.
• Leadership experience, capable of coaching and managing a small team.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with internal stakeholders and tax authorities.
