Software Engineer (Security) – Tech Foundations

About the role

Alan is looking for a Security‑focused Software Engineer to join the Tech Foundations team. You will help build and operate the core security building blocks that keep Alan’s health‑insurance products safe by design, highly available, and easy to ship.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate authentication components on top of a self‑hosted identity provider, aiming for password‑less UX.
• Build and evolve encryption services and other security primitives used across the product suite.
• Collaborate with product squads and Security Operations to embed security into the development lifecycle without creating bottlenecks.
• Maintain and improve security‑by‑default patterns, ensuring high availability and observability.
• Participate in incident response, threat modelling, and continuous security improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong engineering mindset with a passion for security and building reliable infrastructure.
• Experience working in fast‑moving, ownership‑driven environments.
• Ability to partner effectively with cross‑functional product teams.
