Shift Engineer

About the role

Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, the Shift Engineer will ensure the hotel’s operational efficiency and guest satisfaction by maintaining the interior and exterior to luxurious standards while complying with Belgian legal requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of installations (electrical, plumbing, heating, air‑conditioning, etc.).
• Plan and carry out preventive maintenance work.
• Diagnose and resolve reported malfunctions or breakdowns.
• Repair or replace damaged equipment.
• Maintain guest rooms, common areas, and technical equipment.
• Oversee swimming pools, elevators, and industrial kitchens where applicable.
• Coordinate with reception, housekeeping, and catering to minimise disruptions.
• Engage external service providers with management approval.
• Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and Belgian legal standards.
• Monitor inventory of spare parts and tools.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar hospitality maintenance role (advantageous).
• Certification or training in engineering or related fields.
• Fluent in written and spoken English or French with strong communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including night shifts.
• Good understanding of Belgian legal requirements for maintenance and engineering operations.
