Senior Strategic Buyer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Strategic Buyer to join our Indirect Procurement team in Bornem, Belgium. The role leads end‑to‑end indirect procurement activities, ensuring cost competitiveness, business continuity and supplier performance across multiple categories.

Key responsibilities

• Lead indirect procurement for categories such as Professional Services, Facility Management, MRO, IT, HR, Marketing, Packaging, Capex and other indirect spend.
• Drive strategic sourcing initiatives, including tendering, negotiation and contracting for complex categories.
• Execute global and regional category strategies locally and ensure contract implementation.
• Manage supplier relationships, performance, risk and sustainability standards.
• Deliver cost‑savings, cost‑avoidance and value‑creation targets through structured sourcing.
• Partner with site and functional stakeholders to translate business needs into sourcing strategies.
• Develop and lead the Bornem indirect procurement operational buyer, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Ensure compliance with global procurement policies and systems such as SAP and Ariba.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in indirect procurement within chemicals, pharmaceuticals, engineering or manufacturing.
• Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation and category management for indirect spend.
• Strong stakeholder‑management skills in a matrixed, global organization.
• Understanding of procurement governance, compliance frameworks and procurement systems.
• Post‑graduate degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations or Business; engineering background is a plus.
• Fluent in English and Dutch; French is a plus.
