Senior Regional Security Officer – NATO Representation to Ukraine

About the role

The Senior Regional Security Officer (SRSO) leads the security and safety function for the NATO Representation to Ukraine (NRU). The role ensures protection of personnel, information, and infrastructure in a high‑risk environment, operating both on‑site and in the field as required.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all security and safety activities at the NRU, including physical security, cyber security support, access control, guard force, mobile operations and emergency preparedness.
• Conduct continuous risk assessments, evaluate threats, and maintain resources for emergency response.
• Perform physical security inspections, issue identity cards, and oversee vetting and other security requirements.
• Coordinate and lead security‑related projects and knowledge‑management initiatives, including research and analysis of threats and vulnerabilities.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience protecting personnel, premises, security systems and CIS abroad, with proven team‑leadership experience.
• Experience in incident/crisis planning and management, and field work in semi‑ or non‑permissive environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and briefing skills.
• Language proficiency: Advanced level in English or French and beginner level in the other.
