Senior Postdoctoral Researcher & Research Manager

About the role

The Faculty of Engineering at Vrije Universiteit Brussel seeks a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher who will also act as Research Manager for the ETRO.RDI group. You will support a dynamic team of over 20 researchers led by Prof. Nikos Deligiannis, focusing on AI‑driven autonomous systems, cooperative ground and aerial vehicles, intelligent sensing, and healthcare AI.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage ongoing research projects, ensuring timelines, milestones, and deliverables are met.
• Monitor research quality, support grant management, and prepare reporting documents.
• Handle financial and administrative follow‑up, including budget monitoring and procurement.
• Identify funding opportunities at regional, national, European, and innovation levels and contribute to proposal development.
• Assist the principal investigator in shaping the research agenda of the ERC Consolidator Grant IONIAN and related national projects.
• Promote the group’s visibility through outreach activities and stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
• Postdoctoral experience with a strong publication record in AI, autonomous systems, or related domains.
• Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary research teams and manage large‑scale projects.
• Experience with competitive grant applications, preferably ERC or national funding schemes.
