Senior Medical Director – Nephrology (EMEA)

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Senior Medical Director to provide medical leadership for nephrology clinical trials across the EMEA region. You will guide study teams, ensure scientific rigor, and support safety evaluation throughout the trial lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of clinical trial protocols, incorporating the latest scientific evidence.
• Review and approve study documents such as protocols, amendments, CSRs, ICFs, CRFs, and protocol deviation decisions.
• Conduct real‑time medical monitoring of studies, validating primary endpoints and subject safety.
• Serve as the primary medical liaison between the sponsor and internal PPD departments.
• Educate investigator sites through protocol‑specific presentations and demonstrations.
• Respond to queries from investigators, IRBs, and health authorities; provide medical training to site staff.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, GCP, and all relevant medical regulations.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to address issues and close gaps promptly.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with extensive experience in clinical trial conduct.
• Proven senior‑level experience in nephrology or related therapeutic areas.
• Strong knowledge of GCP, regulatory requirements, and clinical research processes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary study teams and communicate with stakeholders.
