Senior Data Governance & AI Transformation Manager

About the role

eXalt Belgium is seeking a senior professional to lead the evolution of data governance into an AI‑ready framework. You will ensure that data used by generative AI systems is secure, compliant with the EU AI Act, and trustworthy, while leveraging AI tools to automate governance at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own AI‑specific data governance policies covering provenance, consent and auditability of training and RAG datasets.
• Evaluate AI use cases for data readiness and risk, with authority to halt projects that do not meet regulatory standards.
• Implement AI‑driven automation such as data labeling, classification, usage monitoring agents and compliance bots.
• Set delegation rules for autonomous agents, establishing hard limits on data access and decision‑making.
• Lead the organization’s Responsible AI posture, validate AI use‑case registries and ensure clear accountability for every model.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in Data Governance, Master Data Management or Data Quality, preferably in transformation programmes.
• Strong understanding of data flows in AI architectures (vector databases, embeddings, fine‑tuning).
• Deep knowledge of GDPR and the EU AI Act, able to translate legal requirements into technical constraints.
• Proven ability to stand firm against business pressure to protect ethical and compliant data usage.
• Fluent in English and professional proficiency in French or Dutch.
