Senior Data Engineer

About the role

You will be one of the first hires in the Central Data Team, building the Keyrock Data Platform that delivers real‑time market, trading and portfolio data to multiple internal consumers. The role combines design, implementation and operation of streaming and batch pipelines, data contracts and governance, all within a remote‑first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build resilient streaming and batch pipelines that ingest, normalise and distribute market and trading data.
• Develop self‑serve tooling (SDKs, templates, AI agents) enabling other teams to publish and consume data products.
• Own data contracts, schema evolution and lakehouse design to support analytical workloads.
• Implement data‑quality and governance frameworks including stale‑feed detection, schema validation and lineage.
• Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure and trading desks to ensure observability, cost‑efficiency and performance.

Required profile

• 8+ years of production data‑engineering experience with strong Python and SQL expertise.
• Hands‑on experience designing and operating streaming systems on Kafka, Redpanda, MSK or Kinesis.
• Proven ability to work with time‑series stores (ClickHouse, TimescaleDB, QuestDB) and lakehouse architectures.
• Operational mindset: Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, cost‑aware design and built‑in observability.
• First‑principles problem solving, ownership mindset and clear communication with cross‑functional stakeholders.
