Senior Auditor – Financial Services

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Auditor to join a leading Belgian financial institution. In this role you will evaluate governance, risk management and internal control processes, conduct independent audits and provide actionable recommendations that support strategic and operational objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and execute audit fieldwork across business and operational processes.
• Assess the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control frameworks.
• Evaluate whether existing controls mitigate operational, financial, regulatory and strategic risks.
• Review compliance with internal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Perform quality assessments on the implementation of approved procedures and working instructions.
• Identify control weaknesses and propose pragmatic improvement actions.
• Draft clear audit reports with findings, recommendations and risk assessments.
• Present audit conclusions to management and relevant stakeholders and follow up on remediation plans.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders while maintaining independence and objectivity.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as an internal or external auditor.
• Experience in banking, financial services or insurance is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of internal audit methodologies, risk management, internal control frameworks, governance processes and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and report‑writing skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Professional certification such as CIA, CISA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent is a plus.
