Security System Engineer (M/F/X)

About the role

Leonardo Belgium’s EU CyberSec Regional Center is looking for a Security System Engineer to join its cybersecurity team in Brussels. The role focuses on deploying, operating, and continuously improving secure enterprise systems across on‑premises, cloud and hybrid environments that support critical infrastructures.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, optimise and maintain complex enterprise systems, virtualization platforms and server infrastructures (on‑premises, cloud, hybrid).
• Implement and manage high‑availability solutions, backup strategies and disaster‑recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
• Lead infrastructure hardening initiatives in line with strict cybersecurity policies and standards.
• Automate routine system administration tasks and configuration management processes.
• Troubleshoot incidents to minimise downtime for critical infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with DevOps and Security teams to support infrastructure modernisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, IT or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Several years of experience in system engineering or infrastructure administration within secure environments.
• Relevant cybersecurity‑related certifications are highly appreciated.

Required skills

• Windows Server administration.
• Linux (RHEL, CentOS) administration.
• Virtualisation technologies such as VMware vSphere.
• Active Directory / Entra ID management.
• Scripting and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, Bash).
• Design and implementation of high‑availability, backup and disaster‑recovery solutions.
