Regulatory Counsel – Content Advisory & Engagement

About the role

Google’s Regulatory Affairs team is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to lead content advisory and engagement across the EMEA region. You will interpret EU content laws, partner with product and engineering teams, and represent the company with regulators and policymakers.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and translate EU content regulations (e.g., Digital Services Act, Audiovisual Media Services Directive, European Media Freedom Act) into actionable requirements for compliance, product, and engineering teams.
• Provide legal advice on compliance programs and policies to mitigate regulatory risk.
• Manage discussions, negotiations, and disclosures with government bodies and regulators regarding compliance readiness.

Required profile

• JD, LL.B., or equivalent degree; admitted to the bar in an EU member state or authorized to practice law.
• At least 7 years of attorney‑level experience in government, in‑house, or law‑firm settings.
• Direct experience with EU‑level content regulation such as the Digital Services Act, Audiovisual Media Services Directive, and European Media Freedom Act.
