R&D Project Quality Engineer (f/m/d)

About the role

Hitachi Energy Belgium is looking for an R&D Project Quality Engineer in Charleroi. The Product Development Quality role ensures quality excellence across New Product Implementation (NPI) and large Grid and Power Systems (GPS) projects by applying Business Unit quality strategies, standards and processes throughout the project lifecycle. It strengthens the Quality Management System (QMS), improves reliability, reduces the cost of poor quality and ensures compliance with internal and external regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement BU Product Development Quality strategies and guide R&D and cross-functional teams in applying quality standards from project initiation through implementation.
• Ensure quality objectives are defined, integrated into project plans and executed, and support teams in collecting and analysing quality data (T-NPS, NCR, ETQ, Lessons Learned).
• Translate customer requirements into measurable quality criteria and apply the QMS, including audits, non-conformity management and corrective actions.
• Implement quality assurance processes and the Gate Model, and identify and mitigate risks using FMEA, CoPQ analysis, reliability reviews and lessons learned.
• Oversee design control, change management, verification and validation, PPAP and control plans, and lead root cause analysis and data-driven corrective actions.
• Monitor quality performance, share best practices with BU R&D Quality teams and Technology Centers, and contribute to Quality Improvement Plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong experience in Product Development Quality, R&D Quality or Quality Assurance in industrial or project-based environments.
• Proven experience with NPI projects and large, complex engineering projects such as power systems and grid solutions.
• Experience managing non-conformities, audits and corrective/preventive actions.
• Fluent spoken and written English; accessibility and reasonable accommodation available for qualified candidates with a disability.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with FMEA, RCA, CoPQ, PPAP, control plans and the Gate Model.
• Good understanding of customer requirements management and quality metrics (T-NPS, NCR).
