Public Affairs and Patient Relations Manager

About the role

AbbVie is looking for a dynamic professional to lead its public affairs and patient‑relations agenda across Belgium and Luxembourg. You will act as a key cross‑functional partner, shaping policy, market access and brand strategies while building trusted relationships with patient advocacy groups.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated government and public affairs strategies that support therapeutic‑area access objectives.
• Manage long‑term partnerships with patient advocacy organisations and serve as the primary contact for European patient groups based in Belgium.
• Lead the therapeutic‑area social‑media strategy, ensuring compliant, patient‑centric content aligned with brand goals.
• Contribute the public‑affairs perspective to brand team planning, creating patient‑facing communication materials in collaboration with brand, medical, regulatory and legal teams.
• Support ad‑hoc corporate communications initiatives and represent AbbVie at major events and stakeholder forums.
• Collaborate closely with External Affairs, Market Access, Medical, Regulatory and Legal functions to ensure strategic alignment and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in public affairs, government affairs or patient‑relations within the life‑science or healthcare sector.
• Strong understanding of policy environments, market‑access dynamics and patient‑advocacy ecosystems.
• Excellent stakeholder‑management skills with a track record of building trusted partnerships.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and influence senior leadership.
