Principal Engineer – Technical Lead for R&D Data & AI

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Engineer to act as a Technical Lead for our R&D Data & AI initiatives. In this position you will bridge scientific research, data platforms, and engineering delivery, ensuring solutions are technically sound, scientifically relevant, and scalable.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on expertise across full‑stack application development, from prototype to production.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex challenges in data pipelines, analytics, AI services, and applications.
• Guarantee delivery commitments while upholding high standards for reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with the software architect to ensure consistent implementation across the ecosystem.
• Mentor data engineers, data scientists, and full‑stack engineers; lead code reviews and promote engineering excellence.
• Identify skill gaps and contribute to capability building within R&D Data & AI teams.
• Ensure solutions comply with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software engineering, or AI platform roles.
• Proven track record as a technical lead or senior engineer guiding design and delivery across multiple teams.
• Experience working with scientific or R&D data in life‑sciences, pharma, biotech, or research‑intensive environments.

Required skills
