Principal Cloud Architect

About the role

The Evolve programme is accelerating Euroclear’s adoption of public cloud by establishing secure, resilient and scalable foundations on Microsoft Azure. As Principal Cloud Architect you will lead the architecture strategy, mature the Cloud Solution Design Authority and guide workload teams to adopt cloud responsibly.

Key responsibilities

• Mature the Cloud Solution Design Authority by defining its mandate, decision rights, intake process and governance cadence.
• Refine and prioritise the cloud foundation roadmap covering identity, connectivity, security, governance, management, operations and automation.
• Develop, maintain and govern cloud architecture principles, standards, target‑state designs, roadmaps and decision records.
• Prioritise and guide the delivery of reusable cloud patterns and reference implementations, translating them into infrastructure‑as‑code accelerators and policy‑driven guardrails.
• Support migration teams with workload assessments, recommending appropriate migration or modernisation strategies.
• Shape the expansion of Euroclear’s cloud footprint, defining regional deployment guidance and assessing data residency, resilience and cost implications.
• Assess sustainability and Net‑Zero implications of cloud decisions and embed efficiency considerations into architecture.
• Review solution designs for compliance with standards, identify risks and ensure documented exceptions have clear remediation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a cloud architect, enterprise architect or principal solution architect in large‑scale technology transformations.
• Proven track record leading architecture across complex, cross‑organisational business and IT scopes.
• Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including landing zones, identity and access management, network topology, security, governance, policy, management, observability and platform automation.
• Experience establishing or maturing design authorities, architecture review boards and assurance practices.
• Ability to develop and govern principles, standards, target architectures, roadmaps and decision records.
• Hands‑on experience translating architecture into infrastructure‑as‑code, reusable patterns and guardrails.
• Experience designing multi‑region cloud environments and understanding of security‑by‑design, shared responsibility and risk‑proportionate controls.
• Background in financial services or other regulated industries is preferred.
