Principal Automation Project Engineer

About the role

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting a Principal Automation Project Engineer in Geel, Belgium, within its Supply Chain Engineering function (Automation Engineering). The Geel site is the largest chemical production site for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) in the J&J supply chain, with a launch and grow mission for new pharmaceutical products. The role focuses on project delivery within the Global Engineering & Technology (GET) organization.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the design, development and validation of future process automation systems
• Develop specifications, strategies and roadmaps for process automation systems, instrumentation and new technologies
• Act as project manager or core-team member for automation scope projects, driving delivery of complex automation projects
• Ensure computerized systems are compliant and fit for their intended use, enabling a smooth release for operational use
• Build effective working relationships and partnerships with internal and external partners

Required profile

• A master's degree or equivalent through experience; Engineering or Science preferred
• Strong team player with good communication skills across organizational levels
• Safety and quality seen as paramount
• Digital mindset and enthusiasm

Required skills

• Experience in automation, process control systems and GAMP strongly desired
• Affinity with project engineering in a chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment considered a key asset

• Base pay range of EUR 79,800 to EUR 137,770
