Postdoctoral researcher in agricultural economics – Vietnam & Global South

About the role

This part‑time (10%) postdoctoral position is embedded in the agri‑food marketing and supply‑chain research group at Ghent University. The researcher will support the FWO project on inclusive, deforestation‑free supply chains, focusing on Vietnam and Belgium.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct quantitative surveys, including discrete choice experiments with consumers and farmers.
• Analyse data using statistical software and eye‑tracking technology.
• Coordinate research activities with Vietnamese partners and supervise junior researchers.
• Contribute to scientific publications, proposal writing and PhD supervision.

Required profile

• PhD obtained within the last 6 years in agricultural economics, marketing, behavioural or related sciences.
• Strong track record of peer‑reviewed publications in Web of Science‑indexed journals.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Experience in supervising Master’s or PhD students and in proposal writing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with statistical packages such as Stata, R, SPSS, Ngene or Nlogit.
• Experience with eye‑tracking equipment for consumer research.
• Advanced knowledge of quantitative research methods, experimental design and choice experiments.
