Post‑doctoral Assistant – Movement and Sports Sciences

About the role

The Department of Movement and Sports Sciences at Ghent University seeks a post‑doctoral assistant to conduct high‑level research and support teaching activities in Dutch at Bachelor and Master levels.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct academic research, dedicating at least 70% of time to projects in nutrition, metabolism, exercise physiology or movement sciences.
• Assist in teaching activities for Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, including lecturing and supervising practical sessions.
• Provide guidance to Master’s students on exercises, work placements and dissertations, and support doctoral candidates.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (preferably in health, nutrition, movement/sport sciences or bioscience engineering) completed before the start of the appointment.
• Demonstrated research experience in nutrition, metabolism, (exercise) physiology or movement sciences, with publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Strong interest in teaching and coaching students at Bachelor, Master and Advanced Master levels.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term contract of 2 years (non‑renewable) starting no earlier than 1 December 2026.
