Postdoc on spectral X-ray detectors

About the role

This postdoctoral position is part of a multidisciplinary project aimed at classifying materials in waste streams using the spectral capabilities of new X‑ray detectors. The research will evaluate both conventional photon‑counting and hyperspectral detectors to optimise metal classification.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate a simulation framework for conventional photon‑counting and hyperspectral X‑ray detectors with high‑Z sensors.
• Conduct sensitivity studies and generate input data for material classification based on experimental measurements.
• Publish research findings in scientific journals and present at international conferences.
• Contribute to the supervision of master’s and PhD students.

Required profile

• PhD (obtained within the last 6 years) in physics, engineering or a related field.
• Experience with experimental setups for high‑resolution X‑ray imaging.
• Strong programming abilities for image processing, analysis and hardware control.
• Proven record of scientific publications on photon‑counting X‑ray detectors or related applications.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
