Pharmacometrics Lead AI/Machine Learning

About the role

UCB is seeking a Pharmacometrics Lead AI/Machine Learning to shape the quantitative clinical pharmacology strategy for its neurology and immunology programmes. The role will be based at one of the research sites in Slough (UK), Monheim (Germany) or Braine (Belgium) and will report to the Global Head of Pharmacometrics.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement an AI/ML roadmap to support dose selection, trial design, PIP development and ongoing data evaluation.
• Perform hands‑on AI/ML, population PK/PD, disease‑progression modelling and clinical trial simulations on assigned projects.
• Develop submission‑ready Pharmacometrics analysis plans and reports.
• Lead outsourced pharmacometrics and AI/ML activities and progressively internalise capabilities.
• Mentor and grow a technical team to ensure state‑of‑the‑art modelling approaches.
• Maintain knowledge of global regulatory pathways and engage with health authorities.
• Collaborate closely with QCP leads to integrate pharmacometrics into programmes.
• Promote MID3 concepts internally and externally.

Required profile

• Doctorate (PhD or MD) in pharmaceutical sciences, statistics, engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience in pharmacometrics, including at least 2 years applying AI/ML in drug development.
• Hands‑on experience with population PK/PD, disease‑progression modelling and clinical trial simulations.
• Strong understanding of Bayesian methodologies and model‑based meta‑analyses.
• Agile mindset with ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication, organisational and presentation skills.
