About the role
We are seeking an Operations Manager to join Ashurst’s Brussels office from 1 October 2026. Reporting to the Director of Operations for UK/EMEA/US, the role combines line‑management of the Legal Secretaries team with responsibility for day‑to‑day facilities and vendor management.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Legal Secretaries and local operations staff, handling absence, performance and employee‑relations matters.
- Maintain the office environment, including furniture, security, supplies, reception and compliance with Belgian regulations (e.g., Recupel, IBGE).
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships, conduct tendering, negotiate contracts, monitor service levels and liaise with the landlord.
- Oversee office budget and annual expenditure in partnership with Finance, and drive the Brussels ESG programme.
- Lead projects to review and improve processes, optimise workflows and support partners and legal teams.
- Act as the primary contact for business continuity and coordinate insurance and regulatory requirements.
Required profile
- Proactive leader with experience managing small teams in a professional services environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple concurrent work streams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
