National Security & Resilience Director

About the role

Microsoft’s European Government Affairs team is looking for a senior leader to own and drive national security, resilience and defence‑modernisation initiatives across Europe. Based in Brussels, the Director will act as the primary external face of Microsoft in engagements with NATO, European governments and key security stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Represent Microsoft in high‑level discussions with NATO, EU institutions and national security officials.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with governmental bodies, think‑tanks, industry groups and academic partners.
• Design and execute Europe‑wide engagement strategies on security, resilience and defence policy.
• Identify and develop operational partnerships that align Microsoft’s public‑policy goals with defence and crisis‑management ecosystems.
• Coordinate cross‑functional workstreams with Customer Security & Trust, Defense & Intelligence, Enterprise Resilience, engineering and regional business teams.
• Translate strategic intent into concrete initiatives, ensuring alignment across European capitals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in government affairs, public policy or security‑related roles at senior level.
• Deep understanding of European defence, cybersecurity and resilience landscapes.
• Strong network with NATO, EU institutions and national security agencies.
• Excellent stakeholder‑management and partnership‑building capabilities.
