Medical Director – Pneumonology (Client‑dedicated, EMEA)

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Medical Director specialized in pneumology to provide medical leadership for client‑dedicated clinical trials across the EMEA region. The role involves guiding study teams, ensuring scientific rigor, and safeguarding participant safety throughout all phases of the trials.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of clinical trial protocols, incorporating the latest scientific evidence.
• Participate in site selection, review and approval of study documents such as protocols, amendments, CSRs, ICFs, CRFs, and protocol deviation decisions.
• Conduct real‑time medical monitoring to validate primary endpoints and detect safety issues early.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the sponsor and internal PPD departments, coordinating cross‑functional activities.
• Educate investigator sites through protocol‑specific laboratory presentations and demonstrations.
• Address day‑to‑day trial issues, respond to queries from investigators, IRBs, and health authorities, and provide medical training to site staff.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant medical regulations and standards throughout the study lifecycle.

Required profile

• Medical doctor with specialization in pneumology (pneumonologist).
• Proven experience in medical leadership for clinical trials and safety evaluation.
• Strong understanding of clinical trial documentation and regulatory requirements.
