Mechanical Engineer – Drivetrain

About the role

E2 Drives is expanding its e‑bike powertrain team in Wavre and is looking for a Mechanical Engineer specialized in drivetrain design. You will lead the creation of compact, high‑efficiency gear and bearing solutions for the next generation of electric bike motors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end design of metal and plastic gears, define lubrication strategies and ensure long‑term durability.
• Perform system‑level simulations, including NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) analysis, to optimise mechanical performance.
• Bridge digital models with physical testing, analyse test data and conduct root‑cause investigations on failed components.
• Stay updated on electric mobility trends, integrate new transmission technologies and mentor junior engineers.
• Communicate engineering decisions in cross‑functional meetings, providing data‑driven arguments to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related specialised design discipline.
• Proven experience with transmission systems, bearings, shafts, load distribution and gear calculations (metal and plastic).
• Strong knowledge of GD&T standards and attention to detail in technical documentation.
• Experience in NVH analysis and system‑level validation.

Required skills

• KissSoft, FVA Workbench, SMT Masta or equivalent gear‑calculation software.
• SolidWorks (or comparable 3D CAD) for modelling and 2D drawing creation.
• System‑level simulation tools for mechanical performance evaluation.
• Root‑cause analysis and test data interpretation.
• GD&T application and technical drawing expertise.
