Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team that creates high‑precision optical systems for space, defense, life‑sciences and industrial applications. You will work under the guidance of the Mechanical Coordinator and be responsible for turning concepts into reliable, manufacturable hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Architect advanced mechanical assemblies, balancing optical, thermal and structural constraints from the earliest design stages.
• Create 3D models, detailed drawings and technical documentation including BOMs, calculations and design rationale.
• Define tight tolerances and functional dimensions to guarantee reliability and ease of manufacturing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to assemble, integrate, test and troubleshoot prototypes, including clean‑room testing.
• Work directly with suppliers on custom parts, technical specifications and quotation processes.
• Continuously improve designs to optimise performance, cost and schedule.
